Biography
DJ Mtheory, one of the founders of Hong Kong's legendary Bunker Club crew, originally hails from New Jersey, United States. His love affair with electronic music started circa 1997 when he was introduced to the Philadelphia music scene at the time. Shortly thereafter, during his college years, he joined the Dub Kinetics crew which was widely known in the Lehigh Valley and Philadelphia metropolitan area for performing at a myriad of underground venues which saw its members cranking out bumping tunes across almost every sub genre imaginable, e.g. drum & bass, trance, breaks, house, techno, etc. Mtheory first experimented with progressive trance and then moved into hard house. However, his true love affair which remains to this day is with breakbeats, although he usually incorporates elements from other genres into his sets, particularly tech-house and dub step most recently. If you catch one of his Bunker sets, you'll notice that Mtheory wastes no time in dropping bouncy and bassy tunes from the start, though he will temper his sets with transition tracks and downtempo beats, only to then pick it up again at a ferocious pace. If you had to label his style, Mtheory plays primarily acid breaks, nuskool, big beat, progressive breaks, ragga breaks, dub step, tech house, and occasionally electro.
