Music being his first love, Mista Kay has spent over 20 years watching the music industry shape up to what it is. Whilst standing along side other Dj’s in the late 80’s and early 90’s, Mista Kay became familiar with turn tables playing his first ever gig in front of 2000 party revelers at the tender age of 13. Mista Kay has no plans of slowing down any time soon.

The story of how it all came about…

With a mission to accomplish, a fantasy in his mind, Mista Kay set out to accomplish both, not only becoming a Dj, but a Musical Artist.

Mista Kay took his love for music to the next level enrolling in a music college at the age of 14, then further extending his knowledge in a specialised college at the age of 17, mastering in Sound engineering and production.

With great persistence, Mista Kay finally landed a contract with a recognized record label as an engineer at the age of 19. This was a Dream come true as it gave Mista Kay full exposure to the world of Music.

With Dj’ing as a hobby and engineering as a full time job, Mista Kay started becoming unsettled with the idea of engineering other artist’s music and started remixing his own music. By doing this, it gave Mista Kay a firm grip on the Dj / club scene.

Having a style that was different then the rest, Mista Kay used this to all advantages, pleasing crowds, influencing peers and capturing the attention of national & international promoters. Having played his first international performance in Thailand followed by Singapore then Lebanon, Mista Kay sparked great interest with club promoters from Dubai, Las Vegas and the Greek Islands, playing on massive Stages in front of thousands of people. His fantasy was quickly becoming a reality.

Upon return from his international tour, Mista Kay’s Schedule was filling with performances and guest spots across australia at many bars, clubs and festivals.

With a focus on the house music scene, Mista Kay was inspired by international Greats such as Carl Cox, Shakedown, Eric Morillo, Roger Sanchez and many more. His mission was still in progress. Mista Kay decided to spend some time in the studio, having already engineered music for many other artists, remixed his own style of music, dealt and supported major artists and being inspired with other International Dj’s, Mista Kay knew he wasn’t done yet.

Producing his own music and remixing his own style of music for other artists, this helped Mista Kay really understand the technical side of music production and helped him connect with the audience flawlessly. Becoming top 20 Dj’s Across the Globe through Hed Kandi 3 years running earned Mista Kay the respect from peers and the audience he played to on a weekly basis and is now recognized in the music scene and one of Australia’s leading Dj’s.

Respected by his colleague DJ’s for his production skills, versatility with music and loved by clubbers for his dance floor bombs and energetic performances, Mista Kay is still setting new standards in the industry.

The Journey Continues..

MUSIC is an art form whose medium is sound. Common elements of music are pitch (which governs melody and harmony), rhythm (and its associated concepts tempo, meter, and articulation), dynamics, and the sonic qualities of timbre and texture. The word derives from Greek μουσική (mousike), "(art) of the Muses."

The creation, performance, significance, and even the definition of music vary according to culture and social context. Music ranges from strictly organized compositions (and their recreation in performance), through improvisational music to aleatoric forms. Music can be divided into genres and subgenres, although the dividing lines and relationships between music genres are often subtle, sometimes open to individual interpretation, and occasionally controversial. Within "the arts," music may be classified as a performing art, a fine art, and auditory art.

"Dance music is growing and growing and its taken over the world. Dance music is definitely taking over as an influence in hip hop and r 'n' b. Like I've been saying for a while now, trance and melodies are coming back and they're also combining. I think people are tired of big breakdowns and then it comes back to nothing... Everybody loves a great kick-drum and a killer bass-line but people also
want to hear pianos stabs! Plus, vocals are definitely coming back! But not cheesy vocals - they have to be real."

Melodies - and memories - are made of this.
