Biography

Dope Ammo is the recording alias of UK-based Drum & Bass producer and DJ, Anil "Coco" Shah. A veteran of the electronic music scene, he continues to be a major draw at international events, with recent highlights including performances at Notting Hill Carnival and the Temple Stage at Glastonbury Festival. His recent studio work features a high-profile collaboration with legendary vocalist Elisabeth Troy, resulting in the 2025 singles "You Had It" and "Happiness."

The project originally formed in 1996 under the collective name The Drunken Masters before Shah evolved it into a solo act in 2008. He established Dope Ammo Records in 1998, a label celebrated for a unique sound that fuses Jump Up energy with Reggae and Jungle influences.

Beyond his original productions, Dope Ammo is well known for his remix work, including a Beatport chart-topping rework of Baby D's "Let Me Be Your Fantasy" (with DJ Hybrid) and an official remix of Alan Walker's "Faded" for Sony Music. He has also contributed soundtracks to major video game franchises such as DJ Hero and B-Boy.
