DJ BJ is a Singapore-based selector who weaves through soul, jazz, funk, hip-hop, disco, boogie, and soulful house to pay homage to the lineage of Black music and its enduring impact on dance floors today. His sets are built as journeys, moving fluidly across decades and genres while staying anchored in groove, rhythm, and emotional depth.

A firm believer in the long-form set, DJ BJ favours slow builds and deep storytelling over quick drops, drawing connections between spiritual jazz, 70s disco, golden-era hip-hop, and the soulful house sound that characterized New York in the 90s.

Influenced by the open-ended, genre-fluid “Balearic” ethos, he plays with no strict loyalty to genre — only to feeling — while remaining grounded in the cultural foundations that shaped the music he loves.

In Singapore, he has played at respected music-forward institutions such as Offtrack, Tanjong Beach Club, and The Champagnery, cultivating a reputation for thoughtful, groove-led sets that prioritize flow over flash.

Currently exploring Southeast Asian funk and disco from the 70s and 80s, DJ BJ continues to dig for deeper connections between regions, histories, and dance floor energy — bringing a cross-cultural perspective to every room he plays.
