Biography
自90年代中期，来自北京的高虎便与这个城市的Party文化结下深缘。他的演出遍布于各种派对，酒吧和俱乐部，助力奠定了现今北京电子跳舞音乐发展的基石。他被认为是ChillOut与Lounge音乐的圈中翘楚，与DJ黄维伟共同创造了lounge party品牌“Mandala music”，融汇 House, Nu Jazz,Downtempo, World Beats和Deep Space Techno等音乐风格，一起上演了多场代表这个城市最为难忘的系列派对。高虎在House Music及Techno music上的造诣也使他成为京城此类DJ里最有特质的人物。他对本土House Music 氛围成长的不断推动，赢得了在同行与Party人群间的美誉，他对多元文化的认同使他拥有更多的国际间的合作机会，像, Jazznova, Sasha, Anthony Collins, Peter Kruder等媒体给予高度的报道和推崇，他是最具音乐感染力的本地DJ.从2008年，高虎致力于公共空间艺术和声音设计等更广泛的媒介之中，运用他的特长技能发展成为多领域的旗手。
Originally from Beijing, Gaohu has been heavily involved in the city’s underground music and party scene since the mid 90’s. He has played a wide range of parties, lounges, bars and clubs, and has helped to establish the foundation for the current EDM scene.
He has been revered as the king of chill-out & lounge music, creating a lounge party brand called “Mandala Music” with fellow Beijing DJ Huang Wei-wei. Together they put on some of the city’s most memorable parties playing a wide range of music including House, Nu Jazz, Rare chilled out grooves, World beats and Deep space techno. Not only a chill-out DJ, Gaohu has also made quite a reputation for himself as a house and techno DJ in the capital city. He has always been pushing the house vibe locally, and has received good acclaim by many musicians and party people, even earning himself a trip to Norway with fellow DJ Patrick Yu to play at the 2006 Polar Jazz Festival in Svalbard.
Gaohu’s personal ambitions, reflected in a constant search of a broader scope of creative musical expression, have in recent years resulted in his successful involvement in public art events. Driven by the idea “that there is more to it” he has ever since been experimenting with sound and possibilities to merge it with other art genres to create a Gesamtkunstwerk meeting the Zeitgeist of the 21st century. By doing so, Gaohu has always aimed to strain his Beijing roots. Personal experience of growing-up and living in China’s capital, as well as sounds of the city are strongly reflected in his music, serving as it’s underlying characteristics.
